Overcoming fear

We all have experienced fear -- that weird feeling that something is not gonna happen right. The feeling does not leaves us live in peace. We become timid, lost in our own thoughts. We know it is just a feeling but we are not able to conquer it. Sounds familiar?

Here are a few tips to overcome fear:

1. Face it:  Like it or not, you have to face it to conquer it. If you are afraid of heights, climb to the top floor of your building, see beneath. If you are afraid to drive, take out your car and drive, maybe on a lonelier road. Face it!

2. What worst can happen: Think what worse can happen and why? If you can control the situation, they why fear?

3. Take a deep breath: Deep breathing always helps to control our anxiety. Take a deep breath or maybe several before you commence the task.

4. Flush away negative thoughts: Think positive. Positive thoughts bring confidence. Negative thoughts break confidence.

5. Feel confident: Tell yourself - You are not afraid, you can do it. Write it down, chant it to yourself, tell your partner/friend. Do whatever helps you to feel confident.

6. Do not let others views affect you: If you think you can, you can. If others think you can't, it is their problem. Let them deal with it.

7. Have faith in yourself: Last but not the least, have faith in yourself. You can do it! Nothing is impossible. Just go for it!

Survival tactics!

Can anyone teach survival tactics? Yes, you can but each one of us have some basic instincts which help us out in difficult times. Some may call it common sense while others may call it reflex. We recently rescued a pigeon’s baby from our AC wall unit and placed him in a quiet cool corner of the terrace. Since we have a dog at home, we couldn’t possibly keep him in the balcony. The little one soon developed feathers but could fly only downwards. He made our balcony as his new home. One day, while I was filling a bucket of water to water the plants, this little fellow jumped into the bucket to quench his thirst even though he had his bowl of water. Unable to swim, he stretched his neck and rested it on the rim of the bucket to stay afloat. His presence of mind was applaudable. I quickly took him out from the bucket and wondered who taught him the common sense. We are all blessed and have our own survival tactics.
